The Dolch List is named after Dr. Edward Dolch who compiled the 220 most common “service words” found in children’s reading books. Once this core of basic sight words has been memorized, children read with more fluency, comprehension, and confidence.
Most students should learn to recognize all 220 Dolch Words and the 95 nouns by the end of First Grade.
The book includes the 41 first grade sight words and a sentence following each for your child to read along and start identifying words.
